Big transit agencies in the nation’s largest metros are not the only bus fleet operators moving toward battery-electric buses. School districts nationwide are, too, for the same reasons: long-term cost savings, environmental benefits and reduced noise pollution.

Buying an electric school bus, however, is the easy part.

“There’s an entire infrastructure ecosystem required to support fleet electrification, whether you’re talking about a couple school buses or couple hundred,” Mike Finnern, national zero-emission fleet leader for WSP, said.
