Our team provides the environmental planning, permitting, public outreach, regulatory support, and construction monitoring necessary to meet the demands of our transmission and generation clients. Our growing team has recently added over 125 years of siting and permitting experience to our already impressive resume, including siting and permitting some of the most controversial projects in the eastern US, providing expert witness testimony. In the U.S., our transmission project experience spans the nation, supporting many established utilities such as NYPA, National Grid, NextEra, NSTAR, Vermont Electric Power Co. Inc. (VELCO), Public Service Enterprise Group (PSE&G), PPL Electric, FirstEnergy, PJM Interconnection LLC (PJM), American Electric Power (AEP), FirstEnergy, and Pepco Holdings/Exelon (Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power and Pepco). The firm’s utility experience includes more than 100 electric transmission and substation projects ranging from 34.5 kV to 765 kV and from 1 mile to 800 miles in length, including public outreach, environmental and cultural resources field work.
In the merchant transmission space, WSP’s staff are experienced in multiple states across the U.S., in the merchant development/FERC 1000 arena and have participated in several of the higher profile PJM and MISO solicitations and are active nationwide on in the transmission conference and knowledge sharing world. We actively search for advantages and solutions for our clients, and have recently been suggesting solutions to fit new or upgraded transmission into narrow rights-of-way.
Our staff have gained a reputation for quality and effective siting and routing work. We take great pride in the fact that we have been asked to author siting manuals for one utility and a utility organization.
