SALT LAKE CITY — Since 1985, WSP’s Salt Lake City team has supported clients, partners and community stakeholders to deliver transformational projects throughout Utah. Today the office celebrates the 40-year milestone with an open house for employees, clients and business partners.
“It is our privilege to be a trusted partner to our clients in the region and we are eager to continue to help deliver some of Utah's biggest initiatives, such as the ongoing rebuild of the Salt Lake City International Airport and the upcoming 2034 Olympic Games," said Shannon Bond, senior vice president, Utah transportation business leader and office engagement lead at WSP.
Approximately 220 WSP professionals are based in Utah. This includes local employees from POWER Engineers, a recently acquired national firm. WSP’s Salt Lake City locations include offices in South Jordan and Cottonwood Heights. Employees represent all of the firm’s business lines — Advisory and Planning; Earth and Environment; Federal Programs; Power and Energy; Property and Buildings; and Transportation and Infrastructure — allowing for cross-discipline solutions to the region’s most complex infrastructure and engineering challenges.
“Our stellar planners and engineers have worked on some of Utah’s biggest projects such as Kennecott Copper Mine, Utah Transit Authority’s light and commuter rail lines along the Wasatch Front; the advanced clean energy storage project, which is the world’s largest green hydrogen storage facility; projects with several of Utah’s largest water organizations; and a multitude of UDOT’s system such as the I-15 widenings and the Mountain View Corridor,” said Matt Sibul, PE, senior vice president and regional transportation business line lead for WSP. “This tremendous work, growing workforce and revenue, contributed to WSP earning Engineering News Records’ Intermountain Region number one position on its 2024 Top Design Firms ranking.”
“Our team is a perfect example of the interdisciplinary, collaborative approach that WSP brings to each project or program, which we strategically tailor to our client’s specific needs,” said Karen Doherty, mountain pacific region executive at WSP. “With a nexus of disciplines further bolstered by our new POWER Engineers colleagues, we are able to deliver groundbreaking projects to meet the needs of this fast-growing region.”
“We also recognize that we couldn’t celebrate 40 years in Utah without our amazing clients who strive to make Utahns lives better every day,” Doherty continued.
The firm continues to grow and is hiring engineers and professional staff to work on high-profile projects. For a current list of career opportunities, visit https://www.wsp.com/en-us/careers/job-opportunities.
