Reducing the carbon footprint while creating new economic opportunities

WSP is advising on a project initiated by its client DSV, a global transport and logistics company. The goal is to establish a new, modern, future-proof and sustainable logistics centre with a view to creating green savings and increasing efficiency.

The project has a strong focus on sustainability and will be built on a 761,000 m² site in the village of Lund near Horsens. The new building will be certified DGNB Gold, while the logistics facilities will be certified DGNB Silver.

Robertson Barracks is one of the Australian Army’s major bases in the Northern Territory and also the largest base in the Darwin region. WSP designed several new living-in accommodation (LIA) facilities and a Combined Mess building using ESD principles to maximize Future Ready opportunities for government assets.

With three billion new consumers expected to enter the global market by 2030, demanding goods and services, the linear model of our industrial economy (take, make, waste) is not sustainable. The notion of a circular economy — where resources, waste and emissions are minimized by closing or narrowing energy and material usage loops — is gaining momentum in many sectors including manufacturing, oil & gas, and energy.

Bruce Power asked WSP to help him separate the local warming effects of plant operations from the variable natural factors throughout the lake that affect water temperature.

Companies in the energy sector often face difficulties and delays when seeking permitting approval for the construction of large infrastructure with potential to affect the environment.

This 123-story mixed-use tower consists of retail, commercial, residential, hotel and public spaces, including an observation deck and restaurants. It is the third-tallest building in Asia, and the tallest in the world to receive LEED certification.

To support the US military’s demobilization from Victory Base Complex, WSP constructed two dedicated power plants for RPC and Sather Air Force Base.

An Integrated Resource Recovery (IRR) strategy was developed for the Courtice Water Pollution Control Plant and was a first step towards the sustainability of this 68.2 MLD plant. The study searched for technical solutions to derive value from the plant’s waste and to minimize its inputs. The results not only brought focus to the Region, which lead to the IRR option to pursue further into the design and implementation phase, but also immediate improvements with the implementation of short-term solutions.
